The Multifaceted Social Maze: Why We Don't Fit Into Boxes (and Why That's Awesome)

I used to love boxes. I'm a Virgo after all and we love our lists and checkboxes. Neat little compartments for tools, hobbies, even people. "Oh, you're the artist?" Perfect, slide you into the "creative" box. "Great at coding?" Tech box it is. But lately, my boxes have started to feel, well, suffocating.

See, life isn't a game of Tetris where everything neatly settles into a designated space. As I've matured, accumulated skills, and ventured beyond the well-trodden paths, fitting into any single box became about as likely as juggling chainsaws blindfolded. This led to some awkward encounters, like explaining coding basics to someone who only knew me as the quirky poet. Sure, it's a bit disorienting to be underestimated, but it's also incredibly illuminating.

Because sharing those hidden facets, those "secret" superpowers, is where the real magic happens. It's a two-way street paved with mutual learning and unexpected connections. You hear someone's story, discover their hidden talents, and suddenly the world feels a little less lonely, a little more collaborative. That, to me, is the secret sauce of 2024: ditching the stale "teacher-student" model and building communities where we co-create, collaborate, and share the burden (and the joy) of real-world challenges.

Imagine a social network, not of likes and filters, but of shared skills, diverse perspectives, and practical support. A network where the artist can teach the accountant about design thinking, and the programmer can learn the art of storytelling from the writer. We'd all be teachers, students, mentors, and apprentices, constantly learning and growing from each other's unique experiences.

So, who's with me? Who's ready to smash the boxes and build a human web of connection, collaboration, and shared superpowers? If you're tired of labels and longing for real learning, if you believe in the magic of co-creation and the strength of diverse perspectives, then let's build this together. Ditch the one-way streets and let's weave a community where everyone shines, not just in their designated box, but in the kaleidoscope of who they truly are.

Because friends, the most beautiful parts of us rarely fit into any box. Let's celebrate the multifaceted maze, the ever-evolving mosaic of our skills and experiences. Together, we can build a brighter, more human future, one shared superpower at a time.

As I would say to a BFF, "Just do YOU" and now as a CEO of SkillVill we can say "I've got YOU." We're uncovering the magic of smashing boxes and embracing a kaleidoscope of skills. Join our Community Social Connection for a brighter, collaborative future.

Let's do this. ✨

P.S. What are your "secret" skills and experiences? Tell me in the comments and let's start building this community not of boxes but rather circles on SkillVill!

Gratitude for Reading & To My Inspiration for this Blog,

Acknowledging the assistance of tech that saved me an hour of my day and made it more fun getting this blog article written. Check out the AI prompt I used on Google's Bard I used this to help me quickly create this post in less than 20 min from my thoughts this morning over coffee.

Appreciating the amazing humans with whom I connect with on my SkillVill journey. I was inspired to write this blog after a great talk with Alyze Sam last Friday. We connected through a conversation thread about being able to teach empathy. Her life story is an incredible example of the beautiful things that come from us stepping into the super powers given to us from a "higher power" AKA "universe" and traveling the road less traveled so others can get even further for humanity than we did. Real life proof of the power of listening, connecting and collaborating.

Please share with me if you have something to add or if this was helpful in making something happen in your village in 2024. You can find me active in circles on SkillVill. I hope you swing by and maybe give it a try for your next event, community, or just to level up together.
